Schedu led to be the largest community tree-planting event in Tennessee history, the city of Gleason along with the Gleason Rotary Club planted trees at Snider and Huggins Park. Working with the northwest Tennessee food Network, city officials and Rotarians planted over 100 trees. Five native tree varieties were offered, yellow Poplar, northern Red oak, loblolly pine, red Bud and Persimmon. The tennessee environment council led the efforts in the state. Dale Stephens came to the board with the public works report to ask the board to change the height of grass to be changes from one foot to six inches. This would hopefully make it to be that yards would be cut more often and not grow-up so much. Stephens also talked about how there is a large number of yards and homes in Gleason that is not being kept. The board discussed ways that the exciting codes could be enforced better saying that homeowners will be receiving a letter in the coming weeks to clean and mow their yards. Alderman keith Radford proposed to the board to allow the weakley county Sheriff to take over calls during the late nights.
Radford hoped that by doing this it would lead to lower drug use with Gleason having more resources such as drug dogs and investigators. The board discussed that in doing this the response time would be higher because of cops having to come from further away and that without the night portal there might be increased illegal activity at night. Because of this the board was not for the proposal and will be keeping the third shift as it is now. The next scheduled meeting will be held June 14 at 7:00.
